Anders als eine Ausstellungswand hat die Slideshow einen kinematografischen Charakter und kann mit Musik oder Sprache kombiniert werden. Das Berliner Fotografen-Kollektiv neunplus hat zu diesem Zweck verschiedene internationale Fotografen-Kollektive eingeladen, die gemeinsam ihre Arbeiten vorstellen.

Time Zone is a project that explores, through photography, the sense and the pressure of time, particularly instantaneous time, in our life and society. Some photographers have searched trough personal, intimate or collective memory, other authors worked on sociological and architectural environments. All of them have been trying to find a more authentic sense of time, suspended between the imposition of the immediacy of consumerism and the biological schedule of time among life.

The project is a poetic reaction to the constant loss of cultural and humanistic time, despite the technological memory of our society. Time Zone is not just a diary of nostalgic photographers, but a group project made out of different visual experiences, with practitioners who find themselves under the same open questions about time and the role of the photographer as a witness to time.

Mit der Serie Stadtkulisse Berlin stellt die Künstlerin Fragen zum drastischen Wandel des Stadtbilds: In welcher Form haben die Menschen als Individuen und Bewohner der Stadt einen Nutzen von deren Transformation? In welcher Beziehung stehen sie zu ihrer urbanen Umwelt, zwischen Spiel und Spiegelung alter und neuer Fassaden? Wie verändert sich hierdurch das Bild der Vergangenheit und wie beeinflusst diese Wechselbeziehung die Zukunft? Welche Rolle lässt diese gigantische, sich fortwährend wandelnde Kulisse den Menschen, die in ihr leben?

In einer Zeit, in der die multimediale Bilderflut aus den Krisenregionen der Welt dazu führt, dass wir umschalten, umblättern und wegsehen, kämpft der Fotograf Wolf Böwig gegen das Schweigen. Seine Reportagen aus den Bürgerkriegs-Gebieten Westafrikas, aus Liberia, Angola und Sierra Leone oder aus Afghanistan leben von seinem Mut zur Nähe. Seine unverfälschte, leise, konzentrierte Fotografie entfaltet große erzählerische Kraft. Sie erzählt von den grundsätzlichen Dingen des menschlichen Lebens: von Schmerz und Hass, von Verzweiflung und Freude. Und sie erzählt von der Überzeugung, dass die letzte Stufe der Gewalt die Zerstörung der Würde des Menschen ist. „Krieg kann schlecht mit Gesichtern umgehen, denn ein Gesicht ist das Gegenteil von Distanz“, schreibt der portugiesische Autor Pedro Rosa Mendes, der seit Jahren mit Böwig durch die Kriegsgebiete Westafrikas reist. Und er beschreibt ihre gemeinsame Arbeit so: „Wir suchen nach Blumen, wo der Wald in Brand gesteckt wurde.“

Anouk Kruithof ( b. 1981) is a Dutch artist working with the medium photography.
Currently she is as an artist in residence in Berlin at Kuenstlerhaus Bethanien with a grant from the Netherlands foundation for visual arts, design and architecture (BKVB).
In her solo exhibition at neunplus she shows some works out of The Black Hole project,
which she was working on from 2004 till 2006 in coorporation with Jaap Scheeren.
The duo photographed series individually and together about depression, black-outs, the
universe and actual black holes, and interviewed several experts in various fields, such as
psychiatrists, astronomers and biologists.
With the dummy of their book, Scheeren and Kruithof were the first winners of the Unique
Photography Prize awarded by HUP Gallery Amsterdam and Kwak & Van Daalen & Ronday.
Exhibitions at FOAM (Photography Museum Amsterdam), MAMAC (Museum for modern and
contemporary art in Liege), ACP Syndey and Jakarta (Erasmushuis) followed.

In the other room Anouk Kruithof will present recent work she made during her stay in Berlin.

Hijacked is an Australian project, it brings together, for the first time, an
uncompromising movement of international cultural exchange. Presenting the most
diverse and provocative new photography from Australia and America, the book
erases traditional boundaries between artists, professionals and emerging talent in
order to point towards the future of contemporary photography.

The book launch at neunplus will be paired with a photographic exhibition. Mark McPherson, one of the 2 initiaters and curators of the project, will be present for the book launch and opening at neunplus.

‘Heidis Land’ is about the zone between clichées and reality. Clichés are built up over a long time and they infiltered our imaginations, thinkings and views on a country or culture. ‘Heidis Land’ is a confrontation of the clichés in my mind and the reality as i live and feel it. ‘Heidis Land’ deals with the perception of Switzerland the Swiss like to convey, and the tourists likes to see.
But what do we see?
How do we want to be seen?
Will our perception not deceived by a marketing almost bordering propaganda and transfigured by a romanticized idea which is build up through time and history and
becomes a cliché?
Thierry Kleiner was born in Switzerland in 1969, lives and works in Berne.
He is co-founder of the international photographers collective tangophoto
